#HumansOfFyreflyz (ft. Alya) fyreflyz blog, October 8, 2020September 25, 2023 This #HumansOfFyreflyz post brings us, Alya! An Events Intern with Fyreflyz, did you know that Alya stalked our Instagram page for four months before actually applying for an internship position? We were SHOOK. FOUR MONTHS? Read on to know more about the story! We heard that you stalked us online for 4 months (wtf hahaha) before deciding to take the jump and apply for internship here. Share with us why you (eventually) decided to apply for an internship with us and what were your deciding factors? HAHAHAHHAHAHA. I always admired the company, and how you guys do all your things. I had a rough sense of idea from stalking Fyreflyz Instagram page and going through all the Instagram highlights! Also, I actually drafted an email to apply for an internship with Fyreflyz with my friends TWICE. For 2 months, I was deciding whether I should apply, and I almost did not apply because I was too scared and I thought I would be too inexperienced to get the job. At the end of the day, I decided that I need to start somewhere and I’m glad you guys took a chance on me! At the end of the day, I decided that I need to start somewhere… How was your first day of work? Was it what you expected? My first day of work was exciting. I was oriented and then assigned to work on a project already! I was doing nothing for months (prior to applying for an internship here) and it felt good to be productive and be a part of a team. I like that Fyreflyz provided the opportunity for me to be involved. From my past experiences, being an intern means two things: it’s either you watch YouTube all day long and brings everyone coffee, and nobody cares about you, or you’re busy and involved. I very much prefer the latter HAHAHAHA. As for my expectations, it was definitely what I expected, and more! Everyone was and still is so nice and welcoming. One day in and I feel like I’ve learnt so much. I can’t wait to learn more and be a team player. Compared to your previous working experiences, how is Fyreflyz different or similar? The work flow is definitely different. For example, my previous job was in an MNC (Multinational Corporation/Company). Fyreflyz is an SME (Small Medium Enterprises). There is less red tape and everyone works closely with each other towards the same goal. Fyreflyz encouraged me to embrace freedom and independency in my work style, but at the same time, I know that I have deadlines to meet. I’ve been raised with so much freedom and independence, and I never take that for granted, so when I learned that Fyreflyz applies this on a daily basis, I couldn’t be happier! Hahahaha. Fyreflyz encouraged me to embrace freedom and independency in my work style, but at the same time, I know that I have deadlines to meet. What do you hope to learn/improve/takeaway by the end of your internship? I hope to gain personal experience and have a better understanding of the industry. When you come in with an intention to learn something, no matter how small the knowledge, there is always something to learn about. So far, from the time I joined Fyreflyz, I realised that it’s not just about work that I can learn from here, it’s also about learning how to be a friend, a colleague, an intern, how to manage my time, and so on. By the end of this internship, I hope to figure out what I want to do and learn to love what I do. I’m also hoping to open new doors of opportunity from this internship experience and I am just happy to be here! When you come in with an intention to learn something, no matter how small the knowledge, there is always something to learn about. Archive humansoffyreflyz October 2020 Uncategorized
