#HumansofFyreflyz (ft. Lovelynne)

We are rolling out Humans of Fyreflyz posts monthly to allow you to connect with us.
Today we will be featuring Lovelynne, our 老大:

1. Why did you started the company?
I started the company because I always believed in creating an environment where people could be themselves and break the conventional concept of work. I wanted to create a place where people truly enjoy and love what they did. I felt that if they love their work, the clients would benefit and that would be a great ecosystem where creativity of all kinds would thrive.

2. How did the company name come about?
I went on a trip with Fenghui (Fyreflyz co-founder), and we saw a bunch of fireflies. I do not like insects, but watching fireflies in the dark forest fascinated me. First it was all dark, and I saw one glowing but faint light amidst the dark forest. And within minutes, there were many fireflies and the whole forest lit up. It was a beautiful sight.

It then struck me and I recalled the saying by J.K Rowling:

“We are only as strong as we are united, as weak as we are divided.”

I wanted to be different, hence the name: Fyreflyz.

3. What would you like to say to the younger generations out there about realizing their dreams?
I would say: dream big but there’s a lot of hard work involved. As a teen, I always dreamt I would set up a company like that- but I worked really hard. I’ve worked weeks straight without sleep and still felt very happy working.

4. (Bonus) If you can only choose between Alexa (Amazon Echo) and Unicorn, which would you pick and why?
I’d pick a unicorn. The unicorn represents a few things to me – that dreams do come through. That magic exists and lastly, there is no limit to imagination.
