#HumansOfFyreflyz (ft. Felly) – Alumni Edition fyreflyz blog, September 23, 2020September 25, 2023 Did you know what you wanted to do when you were still in school? For most young adults, Fyreflyz has been the place where interns figured out what they wanted to do, and what they were good at doing. Today, we have Felly, who was with us from October 2011 to January 2013, a time before we started #HumansOfFyreflyz! Let’s delve in to the Q&A and see where she is now! 1. Share with us how you came to join Fyreflyz then! Back when I was still studying in Polytechnic, I was serving my internship as a merchandiser under my then-boss’s multi-label retail store at Mandarin Gallery. During my time there in 2011, my then-boss was working with Lovelynne on a luxury multi-label online retail project. I had to report to Fyreflyz to assist with the launch. Eventually, when I completed my internship, Lovelynne offered me a part-time job to work in Fyreflyz. I took up her offer as I really like her vibe and the culture in her company gels well with a company I want to work in. 2. What was your role in Fyreflyz? I was mainly doing admin and photographing products – that was my debut in the photography industry, though my unofficial role was to hype the crew hahaha! 3. What made you realise that you wanted to be in the photography industry? After leaving Fyreflyz, and having dabbled in photography, I went back to school to pursue my Degree. After I finished my Degree, I was a freelance art teacher for children and was applying for a full-time job. I applied for a family photographer role and gave it a go. That was how I started my photography journey! Looking back, I realised that I didn’t have many photos with my family. Therefore, I decided to take as many shots as I can for the families who come to my studio. It also definitely helps that my friends and family are very supportive in everything I do. The gratifications I receive from families who enjoyed the photography session and the beautiful shots from the shoot keeps me going. 4. Having been in the workforce for years now, what would you tell yourself back then before you joined Fyreflyz? Work with people who hustle hard and know how to have fun at the same time. Your colleagues make all the difference in your early working years. 5. Can you share your most important lesson that you learnt in Fyreflyz? It doesn’t matter how bad you suck at things, it’s the earnest attitude in learning and embracing challenges. You will improve and get better in time. 6. What do you miss most about Fyreflyz? I miss working and having fun with the old crew! 7. What was the most memorable thing you did in Fyreflyz? It’s been too long to remember honestly, hahaha, but I always remember fondly of our company trip in Japan and the late night suppers in office.
