Meet the new interns of
#HumansofFyreflyz

We prepared a few questions about them to find out how they are adapting here at Fyreflyz! Let’s see what they say!

Tell us a little about yourself in three words.

Marla: Friendly, empathetic, giddy

Nash: Open-minded, Casual, Isolated (in a good way)

Dylan:

Principled- Live by a strong internal moral compass and rarely compromise deeply held values.

Selective- Prefer a small circle of deep and meaningful connections over a large network of acquaintances.

Reserved- Keeping my inner world, feelings and thoughts highly.

What are the top three things you're looking forward to during your internship?

Marla:

I’m looking forward to gaining real-world experience, expanding my creative and technical knowledge, and growing as a person. I also hope to become more independent and feel more confident in expressing my ideas and contributing to the team.

Nash:

  • I hope I can feel more comfortable exposing myself to different people of different backgrounds, occupations etc
  • I hope this internship brings me closer to the artistic/creative side and potentially allow me to find jobs that resonate with my interests
  • Through FyreFlyz, I want to enjoy my time and gain experience so I can confidently share my experience working within this field

Dylan:

  1. Upgrading Fyreflyz website design by improving their content layout and ensuring more intuitive mobile responsiveness.
  2. Looking forward to a chance to actively participate and facilitate in Fyreflyz career events in helping youths discover themselves.
  3. Building strong professional connections and learn how to improve my team communication and workplace readiness.

If you could master one skill by the end of your internship, what would it be?

Marla:

I’d like to become more efficient and confident when using different technical and creative tools, such as Canva and CapCut. I also hope to become more knowledgeable and professional in how I approach my work and gain more hands-on experience along the way.

Nash:

Designing campaign posters and/or applications better and study how to capture the public’s attention through my designs/layouts

Dylan:

Since I plan to work in a social enterprise, I would like to master group facilitation skills as mastering this skill will allow me to confidently guide and form impactful group discussions.

What's one fun fact about yourself that people might not know?

Marla: I’ve actually walked to Orchard before from my house.

Nash: I am an everything-repeater (I eat the same food, I watch the same youtube, I replay the same song, I buy the same clothes 4 times)

Dylan: Unfortunately, I do not wish to reveal as I like my privacy 🙂

What message or piece of advice would you like to leave for your future self?

Marla:

I know that in the beginning, you’re probably scared and nervous right now, but everything will turn out fine. I hope you had a great time, had fun, learned new things, and asked questions whenever you were unsure. Most importantly, I hope you enjoyed the experience and had fun.

Nash: It’s okay to still feel lost or unsure, the time will come for your path to form

Dylan: Live a balanced life and do meaningful small actions in taking care of yourself.
