We prepared a few questions about them to find out how they are adapting here at Fyreflyz! Let’s see what they say!

Tell us how you landed your internship with Fyreflyz?

  • Na’il: I actually specifically requested for a marketing company as I’m quite heavily interested in being part of the marketing sector. I love creating and editing videos in my free time, so it came naturally to me to want to express my creativity and have fun while at the same time working in this kind of environment. I’m also heavily influenced by my sister who currently is working in a marketing company. Personally I find it so fun to channel your creativity into your work
  • Keyi : I am interested in making some designs, I feel very proud of myself if my designs attract many people to view. I am also interested in using wordpress to make a meaningful website, I hope to learn more about how to make a meaningful website here.
  • Dexter : I wanted to learn more about digital marketing as I want to open my own badminton academy. I know that coming here will help me a lot with putting my brand out there. I’m interested in learning to make my own website, making content that will appeal to others and importantly learning how to work with others.

What were the first 3 things that you thought of when you think of the word "internship"?

  • Na’il: Honestly, at first it seemed very dreadful when I found out that I was being sent to an internship for 9 months. But now that I’ve gotten to know the workflow, the people and the flexibility, I feel like I’ll settle right into this working environment.
  • Secondly, I find that being in an internship will give me an opportunity to venture out and learn more about my strongpoints that I never knew I had. I’m very keen to learn more especially when it comes to having new exposure on the more creative side!
  • Thirdly, I find that being in an Internship gives me somewhat of a taste of what it’ll be like to work full-time. I guess it’s a way for me to prepare myself for the real world in a sense? It seemed intimidating to me at first, but I think eventually I’ll get used to it.
  • Keyi : Three things that I thought about are “serious”, “tired” and “professional” because an internship is a new experience for me, I cannot make some funny mistakes when working, I need to function my brain very fast during the working hours, and also use all the knowledge that I had learned in school here.
  • Dexter : Firstly, I think that it would be a great opportunity to learn and work  with others. This will be important for my growth and journey to prepare me for working life!
  • When I think of the word “internship” I’m actually excited for what’s to come when it comes to learning as many things as possible so that I can better myself not just having one skill set.
  • Lastly when I think of my internship duration I felt that it is a little nerve wracking but knowing that, going to this internship I will learn a lot from different members of the company and I am excited for it!!

Now give us 3 things that you love about your internship!

  • Na’il : Firstly, the working environment here is very friendly, everyone here is within reach so it’s easier for me to communicate with other workmates or ask for feedback on my work.
  • Secondly, It’s the location of where the office is located, which is very near the coolest and chill-est neighbourhood in Singapore, which is Haji Lane! The office is surrounded by coffee shops, so personally that is a huge plus for me!
  • Lastly, for me are the people here. Generally I feel that the people in Fyreflyz are very friendly and nice! Even though at this current moment I’ve only been here for about a week, I think it’s only a matter of time until we can all get to know each other better and get along well.
  • Keyi : I love the working environment here, how the people are open minded to share their ideas and feedback, and also having fun with others when we try to do the filming task!
  • Dexter : I am very excited and looking forward to learning more about the company and the different ways they approach a project that will open my eyes to more interesting ideas.
  • I love how we have to do our own time management. This will teach what to prioritize and help me with thinking on the next things to do rather than just doing things that are easy.
  • I love how everyone is open to hearing each other’s ideas and everyone is helpful. Being in this environment will help me to be more creative.

What is something you cannot live without (While working in Fyreflyz)? & Why?

  • Na’il : I think for me now that I’m using an external monitor for editing it definitely has to be that! It’s much easier for me to edit videos with an external monitor as it’s easier to see the details of the video. Don’t get me wrong I can definitely work with just the laptop monitor screen alone, but if given a chance.. Of course I’d choose the external monitor!
  • Keyi : I cannot live without the music while working in the Fyreflyz as without the music, the room is very quiet, makes me feel uncomfortable and I don’t dare to move my chair or do other actions to make some noise.
  • Dexter : Something that I cannot live without is the Team! I cannot live without them. They have helped me learn a lot and I hope that doesn’t stop. It’s an opportunity to be here learning from different members of the team. They are very caring and they do their best to give the best quality in their work!
